Absorption and fluorescence properties of some basic dyes complexing with nucleosides or nucleic acids.

چکیده
The absorption and fluorescence spectra of some basic dyes were measured in the pre sence of large excess of adenosine or nucleic acids. The visible absorption band of dye shifts to longer wavelengths than that in free dye solution. The fluorescence spectral shape and peak posi tion remain unchanged on the addition of nucleoside or nucleic acid, while the fluorescence inten sity is enhanced or quenched to some extent depending on the nature of dyes. These results give us some information about the binding nature of basic dyes to nucleosides or nucleic acids.

Background & Objectives: Antisense peptide nucleic acids (PNA) that target growth essential genes show potent bactericidal properties without cell lysis. We considered the possibility that whether PNA treatment influence the bacteria total nucleic acids content and apply approach to develop a new delivery system to Dendritic cells (DCs). DCs are the most potent antigen presenting cells in th...
متن کاملElectrochemical and Spectroscopic Studies of Interactions of Mn(III) Complexes with Nucleic Bases and Nucleosides
The complexes of Mn(OAc)3 and/or Mn(acac)3 with nucleic bases and nucleosides (adenine, guanine, xanthine, adenosine and guanosine) have been synthesized in nonaqueous solution. Polarographic and spectroscopic (IR and Visible) methods have been used to establish the active site(s) on the imidazole and pyrimidine rings in the nucleic bases and nucleosides for the intera...
متن کاملExciton interaction in molecular beacons: a sensitive sensor for short range modifications of the nucleic acid structure
Molecular beacons are hairpin-shaped, single-stranded oligonucleotides constituting sensitive fluorescent DNA probes widely used to report the presence of specific nucleic acids. In its closed form the stem of the hairpin holds the fluorophore covalently attached to one end, close to the quencher, which is covalently attached to the other end. Here we report that in the closed form the fluoroph...
متن کاملFluorescence energy transfer as a probe for nucleic acid structures and sequences.
The primary or secondary structure of single-stranded nucleic acids has been investigated with fluorescent oligonucleotides, i.e., oligonucleotides covalently linked to a fluorescent dye. Five different chromophores were used: 2-methoxy-6-chloro-9-amino-acridine, coumarin 500, fluorescein, rhodamine and ethidium. The chemical synthesis of derivatized oligonucleotides is described. Hybridization...

The reactions of Nbenzoyloxy-MAB with proteins, nucleic acids, and their com ponents may be useful prototypes in studies on the proteinand nucleic acid-bound dyes formed in vivo by the aminoazo dyes. The biologic and chemical properties of Ar-benzoyloxyMAB parallel those of the carcinogenic aromatic ...
